The Legend of the Sea: Captain’s Rules (Brought to you by Omy SG & Royal Caribbean International)

Contest Entry

Hi everyone!

Have I got a tale to tell you about the sun, and some fun at sea!

Cruise with me through my eyes...

THE LEGEND OF THE SEA

If I were a sailor…

Or if I were a pirate…

Just kidding. No pirates.

If I were a sailor… I would sail the seven seas…

All oceans of the world… Starting from Singapore!

Affordable enough for Mom, and yet affluent enough for the bankers I know. - Travel that me, my friends and readers would love!

If I was a Royal Caribbean cruiser, what would I do? I would…

Have a Legend at Sea, on board the Legend of the Sea

Roll a round at the Casino Royale

Eat my heart out with decadent dining options… Nom nom nom!

Dance the night away, at ‘Anchors Aweigh’!
Dance dance dance options: Young’ons can choose the teen disco, and there is line dancing for the young at heart.

Twirls on the dancefloor

Appreciate some live music, musical productions or comedy shows – classy and funny!

I would… Bask in the beauty of the Legend Day Spa & Fitness Centre

Or merely sit back and relax.

Play some games!

Or get a kick out of rock climbing, flow-riding or 9-hole miniature golf – can you believe they are all with open views of the ocean? This would really add to my adrenalin adveture.

No energy? Not to worry! Slack like its a lazy sunday afternoon at the solarium or sun-bake…

Sunbaking

Or a dare a dip in the many pools.

Indoor, outdoor, or whirlpool? Which should I choose? Help me out guys!

Outdoor Pool

Bubbly whirlpool beckons! I definitely wanted to…

Yes, life would be a sea dream if I were a sailor! But the Captain has some rules too!

CAPTAIN’S RULES:
10 reasons why you should cruise with the Royal Caribbean International Cruises

#10
SOMETHING FUN FOR EVERYONE

Unlike some cruise-lines which may be focused on gambling activities, the Royal Caribbean is family oriented and offers something and everything for – the family or the romantic, the adventurous or the kids, and for the young, hip, or old.

#9
PREFER A LONG 7-NIGHT VOYAGE TO BALI, OR A SHORT 2-NIGHT GETAWAY TO MALACCA?

These 2 new itineraries and the many popular routes & destinations offered by Royal Caribbean will promise you choices, choices, choices. LOTS of it!

Seasonal sailing starts every November and stretches across until March.

(For specific dates or bookings, please search by your preferred destination.)

#8
HAVE LITTLE ONES IN TOW? ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF.

The Adventure Ocean Youth Program offers a fun ‘child care’ for kids aged 3-17 years – allowing you some much-needed rest & relax time between 8am-5pm.

Oh, and this is completely free.

(Do enquire and register upon boarding of cruise ship. Personal babysitter services are chargeable.)

#7
SMART AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE… THAT IS BIGGER AND BETTER FOR ASIANS LIKE US.

Being an American cruiseline, all of Royal Caribbean’s rooms are built for ‘ang mohs’ or westerners.

This means sufficient space for westerners, and bigger rooms for Asians like us!

Win-win. Cannot complain lah!

SPOILT FOR SWEET SLUMBER

Sleep well in a state room, or indulge in a suite room. All suites come with a private balcony. Cool!

Single and alone like me? Pay 150% of the ‘per person’ cost.

Twin sharing is the best value… I recommend that you find a friend.

So pick a friend…

Or friends.

Why not invite more friends along? The more the merrier!

#6
CRUISING WITH A CASHLESS SYSTEM – THE SEAPASS CARD

Your boarding card – also known as your SeaPass card – is your main means of identification and also your ‘wallet’ while you are on the ship. Goodbye cash and coins!

(As a standard custom, the cruise captain will collect and safekeep your passport for the duration of your vacation. You will use the SeaPass card as a charge card to make all onboard purchases.)

#5
WORRIED THAT YOU’LL BE HOMESICK, OR JUST A WORKAHOLIC? HELLO, TECHNOLOGY!

There will be internet access available on the ship so you can connect with your colleagues, family and friends back home through email or Facebook.

Easy peezy lemon squeezy!

(Charges to apply: 65 cents a minute, or $35 for 60 minutes. All prices quoted in USD.)

#4
MAXIMUM SAFETY AND SECURITY

Did you know? All Royal Caribbean cruises have your safety and security as utmost priority.

Master drills are conducted, and the crew even uses ‘facial recognition’ technology to identify you at the gantry starting point. No funny business or intruders here!

Passed (Royal Caribbean's tight security check)!

#3
IMPECCABLE CABIN CREW

At any one time, there are 900-1000 crew members on board to serve you and your every need.

#2
FIRST TIME ON A CRUISE? HAVE NO FEAR, ROYAL CARIBBEAN IS HERE!

You can register on the official website for a free ‘My Cruises’ account and get access to ‘Countdown to Cruise’, which contain relief-breathing instructions – your one stop shop to what to do in the days leading up to your adventure…

That way, you won’t get lost at sea.

You can also check-in online before boarding your cruise, saving you time and the hassle of filling out any forms at the pier.

#1
FOR THE BEST DEALS

Look out for the lowest costs which are offered during the JANUARY-FEBRUARY period, and always book IN ADVANCE.

The early bird catches the worm… and also gets priority choice of your cabin.

You may also book directly on the official website or through your favorite travel agent.

  1. Love the story thread of your blog, Estelle! Pictures are well chosen, and narrative highly entertaining. I’ve never sailed the seas before on a cruise ship, but your blog is certainly enticing me to start considering an adventure with Royal Caribbean!

    Adam xoxo

    • Thank you so much Adam, maybe you can bring your wife on a cruise, have you guys been on one yet? Although you have pretty much done all the destinations in the world already, Japan, Australia, Europe, HK, etc… U jetsetter ;)

  2. oh wow, that’s such an amazing post. I love the pictures you took, what camera are you using? It’s fantastic! Didn’t even realize cruises had so much stuff to do, I definitely am rethinking my holiday plans now! Ship looks huge too! Guess it’s not always the motion in the ocean!

  3. Never been on a cruise before, but I’m always open to new ways of travelling. Cruising on a ship can be a very romantic adventure. I’ll definitely consider Royal Carribean!

  4. Impressive post! Never realize that cruises could be this much fun! I guess I’ll have to go on one soon! And it’ll def have to be a Royal Carribean trip!

  5. Estelle, very insightful post about the Royal Carribean!Keep up the good effort, and after seeing your post it is definitely very tempting and indulging in going on their cruise!!! What i love about it is that you potrayed the Royal Carribean as a more family oriented cruise liner as most cruises focus on the casinos. Good job! Definitely would give it a go for the 7 nights trip to Bali!!! :)

  6. Wow… Honestly one of the better blogs on it I’ve read so far…
