“One is bad enough, but a few God, a few?” I screamed indignantly. “What did I do to deserve this? What should I do?”

What do you do when you care for someone and have done as much as you can to help them, only to have them turn around and mock you, make trouble for you, or defame you on their Facebook?
You say a few prayers, get a hug from your Dad, close your computer and go swimming till the sun sets.
Then you walk away from the horrible day.

When I found out that this someone was talking smack about me, my first instinct was to smack him back. My logic was perfect:

1) I have more friends on Facebook so I could do more damage
2) I have more reason to make more threats
3) I have done more right to him than wrong

But then I stopped myself and realized even if I had logic and friends on my side, none of this mattered. “No one cares about who is right in war – only who is left”, I remembered.

It’s easier for me to create problems for someone who has given me problems, rather than to take it lying down, and I’m sure it’s the same for you too. I COULD use fire to fight fire, but then it would just lead to an explosion… And it’s not what Jesus would want me to do.

Someone I didn’t know told me today, “God has given you everything, but he can’t give you character. So he has thrown trials and situations your way to make you stronger, better.”

So this was it! I could be weak, and make as much noise as the other person did. Or I could choose to be stronger, quieter, and better. (The choice is always clear, but never so easy.)

Note: You don’t have to be a Christian to return hate with love, but it does always seem to help me when I have supernatural strength on my side.

My friend JL told me tonight, “People will be people; to err is human, but to forgive is divine.”

I’m not perfect like God, or good like Gandhi, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try.

Did a filming for BlackBerry the other day around lunchtime and the video just got out.

The first part of the video is on the BlackBerry private drinks session held with Marketing Head, Gail Brennan. I was pretty pleased to make her acquaintance – she’s ex STB so I had lots of topics to share with her about.

A number of the most popular bloggers in Singapore were present at the chit-chat-chicken wings session too – LadyIronChef (It was my first time meeting the blogger, Brad. Yes, Brad. Did you know the blog is written by a “he”? I always assumed it was a “she”! Very clever… It’s way more sexy to imagine a woman in a kitchen carving an iron knife, rather than a man I think “IronChef” as a “Lady” would get more hits!), Dweam (Ms Singapore Universe 2011), KayKay and XiaXue supported BlackBerry at the event. Tonight, I spoke with a couple of men in suits and we talked about love.

They asked me if I was married. I explained that I needed a boyfriend first, that was how it worked right? “I think you missed a couple of steps.” I lamented.

They laughed.

I asked them if it was because I was fat? “I look like I’m in the second trimester of pregnancy, right?”

They vehemently denied. I accepted and moved on.

We talked about marriage. I said that marriage was in theory, a good idea. In theory, a lot of things are good ideas. In theory, eating a tub of ice-cream is a good idea.

But then, I joked, that you might feel sick after. Sometimes, it might even make you puke.

The men in suits loved this. They were both married, so obviously they already had eaten the tub of ice-cream.

They said don’t do it, for fear of being sick of this tub of ice-cream.

Man #1 chuckled. “Don’t eat the tub, but rather take the time to sample as many flavours as you want! Chocolate on a Monday, Mint on a Tuesday, Caramel on a Wednesday. Maybe you would like the Cherry flavour too!”

Yes, man #2 nodded vigorously. “Eat more and eat merry!”

Now now, I’m not a multiple flavours sort of person, nor have I been asked by anyone to consider marriage.

I do believe however that love is like ice-cream – you can serve and savour it slowly, but I suggest you enjoy and eat it before it melts away.

Have you eaten the tub of ice-cream? Would you?

When I was in high school, one of my longest relationships (~2 years) was long distance. I sucked quite a bit at it.

Talk is cheap, and talking online for 2 years without physicality is no easy feat. But this boy from Singapore did it! He met the girl on Facebook and shows his love on social media (YouTube) – all the way to Sweden.

What if they met each other for the first time and…
… The girl had really bad tantrums?
… The guy was really bad in bed?
… One of them had funny feet and never revealed it?
… They liked each other online but just didn’t like each other IRL (in real life)?

Looks like the ‘what ifs’ are more like ‘whatevers’. They seem so happy to just hang out, cuddle and kiss. The video is so sweet, simple yet strong.

This just further affirms me that I should wait for a man who doesn’t just say that he loves me, but shows that he does.

Someone asks you to introduce yourself. “Who are you?” Everyone looks at you, waiting for an answer.

That’s right. Who am I? What should I say? What makes me “me”? Will it impress them, or sound depressing?

I’ve been to many parties, met many new people and heard many introductions. Most responses fall into these few categories:

1) You tell them your name and job
2) You tell them who you know and how you were invited
3) You tell them any details that could be relevant to the party (I.e. Talking about Dali at an art-based party)

Why do we say these things? Have we affixed our identity with our job, the things we did last night, the people we know or hang around with? Is that what really makes you “you”?

Of course, I’ve also introduced myself way too many times. Sometimes I tell people my age, or about my full-time job. Sometimes I talk about my blog. Sometimes I explain my existence at the party. Hey sometimes, I even give them a fake name. (“Hi, I’m Savannah.” It’s fun to make up names, u can try it sometime!)

Most times though, I wish I could say what I’m really thinking.
That “it’s cold”, “I need to pee”, “I am not interested in the things you are saying” or ” I am craving some chocolate ice-cream”.

I wish I could tell people who I really am, what I hate and love, what makes my heart burst, or about my saviour Jesus who put this soul in my body. Those things are truly what makes me “me”.

But for now, I’m just a 25yo/female/lived in Melbourne and is now living la Vida local in Singapore.
