Thousands of girls reported for jury duty at Zouk this year, happy to be in lockdown with 50 CLEO Bachelors… Bring on the bad boys, blushing girls and a night of criminal behaviour.
Don’t pass go, don’t collect $200. Here is the night’s HARD… evidence.

Every year, I help a good friend of mine when she organizes roadshows and guerilla-style marketing for the CLEO Bachelor’s competition.
This year, I didn’t go for any of the roadshows but I did bear witness to the CLEO EB finals party, guilty as charged!
Let me warn you in advance to expect A LOT of videographic and photographic (not pornographic!) footage.
That’s what you get when you have Estelle, up front and center, in support of a number of friends. My girlfriend Tashie Chiam also rallied our girl-gang together to support her lil brother, Desmond Chiam.
She and me, Tashie on the left. Does she look like Des?
Tashie, Michelle and I got pom poms, made special Desmond Chiam face masks and signs. Maytinee got us the best seats in the house. Ready.. setto! Team DC FTW!
Hosts for the night were the usual riot.
I love funnyman Hossan Leong! Every year, he impresses. He’s a hoot and a half.
Talking about first impressions – we definitely made some.
Hossan saw us waving about our Team DC49 signs and Desmond faces, and grabbed mine to play with on stage.
He freaked Maytinee out a little though.
Don’t know what I’m more scared of… Desmond’s face or Dawn’s frown.
We also caught the attention of RazorTV. Here’s Sara, my friend who was “working” that night. Business or pleasure Sara? 😉
A generous dose of performances ensued.
Never seen Zouk more packed… The Bachelor Band brought down the house, you would have thought Armin Van Buuren was in the house!
Winnie, Julian, Pudding and friends galore.
We weren’t the only ones with awesome signs… The ever popular Mr Jason Peikun Chee’s friends made these. Brilliant!
Oh and anyone else noticed that Zouk’s decorations consist of a lot of pantyhose? We did!

Moving on… GAMES! I was pretty impressed at the ideas and advertisers CLEO had this year. There was a lot of sexy, spontaneity, and laughter.
The videos are so much better. I filmed my friend Rob Kos’ (Twilight) as well as Samuel Wong’s (King Kong) segment.
My roommate Christine from my Royal Caribbean Cruise media trip made my night. She participated in the Strip Search game. She won it!
Watch here to see how she can take off a guy’s clothes in record time 😉
Dawn came just in time for the action!
The one, the only, the Striptease.
(Honestly I thought the boys all looked kind of awkward. What do you think?)

In 2009, my old friend from Melbourne (Vivian Dawson) won the competition.
This year, Desmond Chiam – who is also from Melbourne – won 🙂
Maybe the media has a hankering for Chinese boys from Australia?
Here he is with his cheerleaders, Team DC!
Will the real Desmond Chiam please stand up?
I still had Des’ ‘face’ when I went to meet some friends. I was handing them out like flyers, and it was a huge hit. It was a love-hate-creepy relationship.
Being with Tashie through Desmond’s win made me miss my own lil brother too. Do you think he could be a future CLEO bachelor? 😉

Snapping out of impossible realities (impossible because my brother does not like attention and is actually quite shy), my good friend Pauly gave me a ride and we went to meet some of the boys at Zouk.

“WHAT IS THIS?” “What kind of event are you going to? Why so much toplessness?” My Mom asked.
Let me explain.
Every year, CLEO magazine throws a huge shindig in their hunt for their token CLEO Eligible Bachelor boy.
From the top 50, a number of the boys are still in NS or studying, and only a handful of them are near/over 30 corporate-climber types. = NOT ELIGIBLE
In addition, I have inside info that about 40% of the boys every year are attached.
How do I know? I have quite a few friends who spilled these trade secrets. = NOT BACHELORS
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So they are not all bachelors… and they are not all eligible…
But this is what sells on the magazine covers, to advertisers, and to the general public.
Being part of the CLEO EB competition is a widespread platform for exposure in Singapore, and could be the big break for some of these fresh male faces (fresh meat).
And I didn’t hear any of the girls complaining. 😉
